1 «To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.» Hear myIn that he calls to God with his voice, it is a sign that his prayer was vehement, and that his life was in danger.voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from theThat is, from their secret malice.secret counsel of the wicked; from theThat is, their outward violence.insurrection of the workers of iniquity:
3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, [and] bend [their bows to shoot] their arrows, [even]False reports and slanders.bitter words:
4 That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, andTo be without fear of God and reverence of man, is a sign of reprobation.fear not.
5 TheyThe more the wicked set God's children in misery, the more bold and impudent are they in oppressing them.encourage themselves [in] an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?
6 They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward [thought] of every oneThere is no way so secret and subtle to do hurt, which they did not invent for his destruction.[of them], and the heart, [is] deep.
7 But God will shoote an arrowe at them suddenly: their strokes shalbe at once.
8 So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shallTo see God's heavy judgments against them, and how he has caught them in their own snares.flee away.
9 And all men shall see it, and declare the worke of God, and they shall vnderstand, what he hath wrought.
10 The righteousWhen they will consider that he will be favourable to them as he was to his servant David.shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
