Salmos 66

1 «To the chief Musician, A Song [or] Psalm.» Make a joyful noise unto God,He prophecies that all nations will come to the knowledge of God, who then was only known in Judea.all ye lands:

2 Sing forth the glory of his name: make his praise glorious.

3 Say unto God, How terrible [art thou in] thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemiesAs the faithful obey God willingly, so the infidels disguise themselves as obedient out of fear.submit themselves unto thee.

4 All the worlde shall worship thee, and sing vnto thee, euen sing of thy Name. Selah.

5 He refers to the slothful dullness of man, who is cold in the consideration of God's works.Come and see the works of God: [he is] terrible [in his] doing toward theHis providence is wonderful in maintaining their estate.children of men.

6 He hath turned the Sea into drie land: they passe through the riuer on foote: there did we reioyce in him.

7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebelliousHe proves that God will extend his grace also to the Gentiles, because he punishes among them such as will not obey his calling.exalt themselves. Selah.

8 Prayse our God, ye people, and make the voyce of his prayse to be heard.

9 WhichHe signifies some special benefit that God had showed to his Church of the Jews, in delivering them from some great danger: of which he promises that the Gentiles will also be partakers.holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

10 For thou, O God, hast proued vs, thou hast tryed vs as siluer is tryed.

11 Thou broughtest us into theThe condition of the Church is here described, which is to be led by God's providence into troubles, to be subject under tyrants, and to enter into many dangers.net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

12 Thou hast caused men to ryde ouer our heads: we went into fire and into water, but thou broughtest vs out into a welthie place.

13 I will go into thyThe duty of the faithful is here described, who are never mindful to render God praise for his benefits.house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

14 Which my lippes haue promised, and my mouth hath spoken in mine affliction.

15 I will offer vnto thee the burnt offerings of fat rammes with incense: I will prepare bullocks and goates. Selah.

16 It is not enough to have received God's benefits and to be mindful of it, but also we are bound to make others profit by it and praise God.Come [and] hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

17 I called vnto him with my mouth, and he was exalted with my tongue.

18 If I delight in wickedness, God will not hear me, but if I confess it, he will receive me.If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear [me]:

19 But God hath heard me, & considered the voyce of my prayer.

20 Praysed be God, which hath not put backe my prayer, nor his mercie from me.
